Found Washington began as a shoebox of gas-station receipts and blurry photographs. It is now a slow, deliberate archive of the places in this state that resist a caption.

We are not interested in the top ten. We are interested in the concrete foundation in the salal, the mural nobody commissioned, the marker that names a town that no longer exists.

Every entry is visited before it is published. Nothing is recommended; everything is simply recorded, in the hope that you will go look for yourself.
