Donald is exactly why I love exploring random roads. There's no big attraction or elaborate story—just a giant homemade metal elephant and a collection of unexpected characters waiting at the end of a quiet road. Located along East Stackpole Road near Mount Vernon, Donald is a large homemade metal elephant surrounded by other handmade figures, including Alvin, Simon and Theodore and familiar characters like Tweety Bird. Very little appears to have been documented about who created the collection or why. It's simply one of those wonderfully personal roadside creations that makes you wonder about the person behind it. Please remember this is a quiet residential area. View the sculptures respectfully from the road and don't enter private property.
