One of Washington's most unexpected roadside attractions. It's worth the stop just to look up and wonder how a dragon ended up on a downtown rooftop. Perched atop a historic downtown building, Erasmus is a 700-pound aluminum dragon unveiled in 2019. Named after Renton founder Erasmus Smithers, the sculpture was inspired by the city's ties to aviation, fantasy gaming, and the idea that a dragon had crash-landed on the roof—complete with a cracked façade beneath it. At night, its eyes and mouth change colors, and it occasionally breathes smoke during special events
