Worth the stop—especially if you're already pulling into the rest area. It's a fun reminder of just how massive Washington's old-growth forests once were. Estimated to be more than 1,000 years old, this enormous western red cedar stump was moved to the Smokey Point Rest Area to showcase the incredible size of Washington's ancient forests. You can actually walk inside the hollow center, making it a quick but memorable roadside stop.
