Hidden in the woods above South Cle Elum, Greenwood was used as a community cemetery from approximately 1903 to 1923. Persistent water seepage made the site unsuitable, and many—but not all—of its burials were later relocated to Laurel Hill Memorial Park. The remaining graves include old stone markers and burial sites that are no longer visibly marked. Researchers have used mapping and ground-penetrating radar to help document the historic cemetery. The cemetery is reached from Westside Road and has only a small roadside turnout. Look for the wooden Greenwood Cemetery sign.
