High on the hillside overlooking Dayton stands Washington's own Jolly Green Giant. More than a roadside curiosity, this landmark honors the Green Giant cannery that shaped the town's economy for decades, processing peas and asparagus while providing jobs for generations of local families. The Giant visible today is actually the second version, rebuilt in 1993 after the original hillside figure deteriorated. Though the cannery is gone, local volunteers continue to maintain the Giant as a symbol of Dayton's agricultural heritage.
