Look closely at the pedestal. In 2026, deep cracks prompted a community fundraising effort to repair the deteriorating base and help preserve this little piece of Seattle history. Seattle has its own little sister to the Statue of Liberty standing along Alki Beach. The original was installed here in 1952 as part of the Boy Scouts of America’s “Strengthen the Arm of Liberty” campaign, which placed more than 200 replicas around the United States and its territories. Over the decades, the statue became a local landmark and gathering place. After September 11, 2001, people left flowers, flags and messages here. The weathered original was eventually replaced with the bronze version seen today.
