If you love novelty architecture, this is a great stop. One of Spokane’s two giant milk-bottle buildings, constructed in 1935 as a retail store for the Benewah Creamery Company. This whimsical style is known as novelty or mimetic architecture—a building designed to resemble the product sold inside. The Garland District bottle is now home to Mary Lou’s Milk Bottle, a classic diner serving burgers, homemade ice cream and milkshakes. The building was badly damaged in a 2011 fire but was restored and reopened. Its nearly identical sister bottle can be found downtown on South Cedar Street
