Fantastical and wonderful. Take the ferry and enjoy the day on Bainbridge Island. Pia the Peacekeeper is an 18-foot-tall wooden troll tucked into Sakai Park on Bainbridge Island. Copenhagen-based artist Thomas Dambo created Pia in 2023 using recycled and locally gathered materials, including donated wooden pallets. Pia is one of six sculptures in Northwest Trolls: Way of the Bird King, a Pacific Northwest troll trail created by Dambo with the help of local volunteers. Her message asks visitors to “keep the peace beneath the trees.” Follow the park trail to find her. There is also a geocache hidden nearby for anyone who enjoys an additional treasure hunt.
