This is an emotional place and beautiful memorial for those lost on September 11, 2001. The 9/11 Spirit of America Memorial was dedicated in 2015 as a permanent place of remembrance for those killed and those who responded on September 11, 2001. The memorial contains structural steel from the 60th floor of one of the Twin Towers, limestone from the façade of the Pentagon, and a rock from the field where Flight 93 crashed, on permanent loan from the National Park Service. Nearly eleven-foot granite towers and additional monuments bear the names of those killed in New York, aboard the four aircraft, and at the Pentagon. Four life-sized bronze figures surround an empty pair of footprints where visitors may stand and complete the circle. A Callery pear honors the Survivor Tree recovered from Ground Zero.
