Be sure to book a ticket at St Ignatius Tours online if you want to go inside this amazing old hospital. St. Ignatius Hospital was built in 1893 by the Sisters of Charity, now the Sisters of Providence. It served as a hospital until 1968, when the aging facility was replaced by Whitman Community Hospital. The building reopened in 1970 as St. Ignatius Manor, housing elderly and developmentally disabled adults until closing in 2003. After years of vacancy and deterioration, it was named one of Washington’s most endangered historic properties in 2015. The building was purchased by Austin and Laura Storm in 2021, and preservation efforts continue with support from the Whitman County Historical Society. Official historical tours and ghost hunts are offered throughout the year. This is private property. Do not enter the building or grounds without a ticket to an authorized event.
