swədəbš Park — Swinomish Cedar Hats
Andrea’s Take

The three enormous cedar-hat pavilions are what first caught my attention, but take time to read the interpretive panels here. swədəbš Park was created by the Swinomish Indian Tribal Community for the 2011 Canoe Journey (an annual journey), and the panels share Swinomish history and connections to this place. It's a beautiful reminder that sometimes the thing that makes you stop is only the beginning of the story.

Swədəbš Park was developed by the Swinomish Indian Tribal Community at the site of the ancestral village Txiwuc. The waterfront park opened in conjunction with the 2011 Canoe Journey/Paddle to Swinomish and features three pavilions designed to resemble woven cedar hats, interpretive panels, and a native-plant garden. The park continues to serve as a gathering place, including for later Canoe Journey
