Standing 65 feet tall, the Codger Pole is one of the world's largest chainsaw-carved sculptures of human figures. It commemorates an extraordinary small-town story: the 1938 Armistice Day football game between Colfax and neighboring St. John, and the rematch held 50 years later between the surviving players. The monument features the carved faces of all 51 participants, transforming a friendly rivalry into one of Washington's most unique roadside landmarks.
