Andrea’s Take

Sometimes the most interesting roadside discoveries aren't landmarks. They're people. Meet Jim DeGroot, also known as the Grill King of Grotto. In this tiny community along Highway 2, Jim has assembled a remarkable collection of vintage Weber kettle grills. His enthusiasm for these classic American backyard icons even extends to a Weber tattoo! I had the pleasure of stopping to meet Jim and hearing about his collection firsthand. It's a reminder that curiosity can lead you to some wonderfully unexpected people. Jim also has an Instagram acccount where he shows off how to grill and uses his grills. @skybbqman Please note: This is a personal collection, not a public attraction. Respect private property and arrange any visit directly with Jim.
