This one may not be worth the side quest unless you are already wandering near by. Located beneath Seattle's University Bridge, Wall of Death is a large public sculpture created by artists Mowry Baden and Colin Baden in 1993. Inspired by the famous carnival motorcycle stunt of the same name, the curved concrete installation was designed to evoke the dramatic vertical riding arenas once found at traveling fairs. Over the years, the sculpture also became a popular destination for skateboarders. Today, it is enclosed by chain-link fencing, and concrete barriers have been added to the sloped surface, making it difficult to experience the artwork as it was originally intended. While it may not be worth a trip on its own, it's an interesting stop for anyone exploring Seattle's public art or walking the nearby Burke-Gilman Trail.
