One of my favorite waterfront towns in Washington. Between the historic buildings, the pier, Toby's Tavern, and its Hollywood connection, Coupeville is worth spending an afternoon exploring. Coupeville (Practical Magic Filming Location) Coupeville is one of Washington's oldest waterfront towns and served as a filming location for the 1998 movie Practical Magic. During production, Toby's Tavern was temporarily painted white and transformed into the fictional "Catch & Fry" restaurant. Today, fans can still recognize many filming locations around town, and each year cyclists celebrate the movie during the Practical Magic Ride, a themed bike event that winds through Whidbey Island while honoring the film's connection to Coupeville.
