This is so fun to see and experience. A little old time peep show of oversized shoes. Hidden in the DownUnder levels of Pike Place Market, the Giant Shoe Museum is an entire coin-operated museum built into a single wall outside Old Seattle Paperworks. Opened in 1997, the museum displays part of Danny Eskenazi’s collection of enormous shoes. His interest began after learning that his grandfather once owned a shoe worn by Robert Wadlow, the tallest person in recorded history. That shoe disappeared, but Eskenazi’s search for it led to the collection displayed here, including another size-37 shoe worn by Wadlow. Insert a quarter into each machine and look through the stereoscope-style viewing slots as the displays light up behind the curtains. The machines do not accept cards or tap-to-pay, so bring quarters.
